Re: jazz standards

Sorry it was more of a question than a statement but i reckon the minor third row should help combining chords like on his piano? (i'm no expert on the 3x3 although I have one) If you could record your left hand then he might see how you pull it of. I think he wants to use his piano score to play it...

Re: New Member--Questions About My New Accordion

nice instrument! if the mic has a jack plug, you can pretty much be certain it is high impedance and you can run it straight into your guitar amp. I only know that 'vivace' means 'lively' so I suppose it's the lively version of the musette. I always just call it double-8. I also don't know what year...

Re: Tone perception

For example, most PA systems have 48v phantom power, why not use that as a power source? This does 5 things... Eliminates the need for an internal battery, eliminates the need forintnal amp with tone controls, drastically increases effeciency, lowers the noise floor and offers a much greater range ...

Re: Tone perception

I was going to start another thread on this, but instead I think I'll inject it here. I plan to use some effects pedals in the future. Wah-Wah for one. I'm wondering about the "interference" between the acoustic sound emission and the "modified" (wah-wahed) sound emission. An electric guitar is alm...

Re: Tone perception

Builtin systems will never sound perfect, but that's not their purpose. Their purpose is to defeat all the shortcomings of mic's on stands (which would give you best sound). Although that too depends on what else is present on stage. If you don't run them too hot and position them right you can get ...

Re: Accordion Color

Could be. When I'm in the audience I always go over the look of an accordion. Not sure if I ever notice any tonal difference. What I can say I blue accordion is always more accordion than a red one.

The Cavagnalo didn't have bellows straps either. So I added them too.
side question: what brand/type shoulder straps are those?

Re: Tone perception

don't forget loudness, VU/RMS basically a THE contributor towards tonal perception of audio, both recorded and live bottom-line: because it's so complex it's best to A/B the accordions in your average environment and let your own ears decide your demo room shouldn't be too dampened so you can hear a...

3. Never bring your wife or significant other to the gig if it is a private party. why exactly? because of professional conduct? I go to most of my partner's gigs as a plus-one, either for chauffeur duty or photographer or just company. Most of the time I end up in the crowd to give some encouragin...

Re: Fear. Anxiety. Trembling. Playing in Public

 thanks I liked the read with my coffee at work just now I experience anxiety almost always, although I never played any venue larger than 3000 souls and that was drumming in a 4-piece band. Playing solo is another thing altogether and requires a lot more preparation. At the venue I then dirnk ...

Re: Tone perception

I own two quality accordions, both with hand made reeds, and I experience the both of them as rather "tinny" from my side. I didn't expect an "ah, ha!" answer, I'm mostly interested in other's experiences with this phenomenon and how they might have delt with it. You might need a base-line test her...

Events in Toronto/London area?

Are there any Canadians who can recommend any noteworthy accordion/folksy events for my upcoming holiday in Canada? Or maybe worthwhile landmarks for that matter. We're heading to that patch of land between Toronto, Niagara and Bruce Peninsula. Among a small car trip around the area with stops here ...
